Today is Friday, October 22, 2021, and here are your announcements:

Girls Soccer & Tennis: Attention all soccer and tennis girls. We will meet tomorrow (Saturday) at 9am in Coach Gary's room so that we can complete our fundraising opportunity. Please be on time. I will furnish muffins and donuts!! Soccer ladies there is no practice today!

Boys soccer: Attention all BOYS SOCCER players, you need to get cleared ASAP. If you are having trouble stop by Coach McGowan's room for help.

Attention Freshmen: Link or Treat is next Wednesday morning with your Link Leaders. Get your costumes ready!! More details on Monday!!

Acoustic Club: The Acoustic Club will meet on Monday at 2:45 at the Big Hawk Room. Be practicing on your favorite song. Mr. Musselwhite will bring a tuner but you will need to know the notes for your favorite instrument. He only knows the notes for the 5-string banjo in open G.

NHS: Attention all Seniors who were invited to join Apollo High School's National Honor's Society. There will be a mandatory meeting next Tuesday, October 26th, at 2:45 in Mr. Reynoso's room, Room 104. We will be discussing expectations, dues, officers, and activities. If you know in advance that you will not be able to attend, please let Mr. Reynoso know ASAP

Cross Country: Congratulations to the freshmen and sophomore cross country runners at the District Classic yesterday. In the freshmen race, the medalists were John Loffredo in 11th place, Isreal Begay in 10th place, and Amanie Jean Marie in 3rd place. Sophomore Bryan Valdez was 11th in the Open race. Great job!

NHS: Attention all Seniors who were invited to join Apollo High School's National Honor's Society. There will be a mandatory meeting next Tuesday, October 26th, at 2:45 in Mr. Reynoso's room, Room 104. We will be discussing expectations, dues, officers, and activities. If you know in advance that you will not be able to attend, please let Mr. Reynoso know ASAP.

Badminton: Please congratulate the 2021 Doubles Badminton champions Alyssa Chavez and Mr. Randy Orr. Thank you to those faculty members and Administration that played.

Volleyball: Volleyball will be playing Kellis today at home. JVB at 4, JVA at 5, and Varsity at 6! We will see you there!

Boys Basketball: All Boys who plan to try out for Basketball this season need to be cleared through IN TOUCH. prior to Monday November 1st. If you have any questions about getting cleared through IN TOUCH please see Mr. Hemming in the front office. Try out times for the first week are: 10-12 grade: 3:30-5:30 PM Freshman: 5:30 PM. *** If you are a freshman and playing freshman football, please speak with Coach Walls or Coach Marin about your tryout time.

Girls Soccer: Attention all soccer girls!! We have practice today, Monday at 3:15 on the Annex field. All girls planning on playing this year must check in with Coach Gary sometime today! There will be information regarding our fundraiser that is tomorrow and the homecoming parade!

College & Career Center: ASU will be hosting a virtual Application Workshop during both lunches on Monday October 18th. Students can bring their Chromebooks into the College & Career Center to participate or join from anywhere. See Mr. Peters for the link.

Apollo Swim: Apollo Boys and Girls swim teams defeated Washington High School and Tolleson High School yesterday at out Senior Night. Swimmers of the meet were; Brian Santoyo, Jerome Myers, Jayden Perez Luis Zapet, Jasmine Piegrossi, Terranique Baker, and Kenadee Mathews. Come out and support our swim teams at the District championships on October 29th at Cortez Park.

Girls Soccer: Attention all soccer girls who intend to play this season. There will not practice today. Our next practice will be on Saturday, October 16th at 8am on the annex field. You need to complete your InTouch registration by next week. If there are any questions, email or text Coach Gary.

Soccer All girls interested in playing soccer this year. There is a mandatory meeting on Wednesday after school at 2:45 in the Big Hawk room. We are going to discuss our conditioning and practice schedule, Also, we will discuss the purchase of new jerseys. Please attend if you are interested in trying out. We will practice after the meeting.

Rotary Student Ameera Asse is the Rotary student for the month of October. Be sure to congratulate her!

Cross County: The boys' and girls' cross-country teams ran well on Friday at the Nike Desert Twilight Invitational. The boys were led by Angel Ortiz and Carter Jaques, while the girls were led by Natalie Rosa and Catalina Quintero. Angel placed 24th out of 254 runners. The teams will race again this Saturday at the state's longest running cross country invitational, the Thunderbird Invitational…yes, it is so old that Coach McCarthy raced in it back in the 80’s.

Apollo Culinary: The time has come! Apollo's culinary program will open up Claw & Cleaver next week, our student led restaurant on campus. Flyers will be posted throughout campus with information and staff will be receiving emails with the menu.

Esports Both of your Apollo Rocket League esports teams won their matches last night, defeating Valley Christian and Dobson for a great start to the fall season!

Apollo Swim Team: The Apollo boys and girls swim team defeated Metro Tech and Central yesterday! Swimmers of the meet were Aiden Wells, Conner Putnam, and the entire Freshmen girls’ squad! Gamer Club: The Apollo Hawks Super Smash Brothers teams won their preseason matches yesterday versus Sunrise Mountain and Nothern Christian. This was the first time the team played together on campus and despite some technical issues, prevailed! Congratulations, team! Today the Rocket League team tests out Apollo's servers with their preseason matches today.

College and Military Reps will be in attendance providing information about admission as well as programs they offer. This event is open to all grade levels! Gamers Club: We're in our third week of Apollo Escape Experiences, but this time, there's a twist. This Wednesday, teams of students will race against each other to solve the puzzles and uncover the solution to a grisly murder! Who will decode the clues, put the pieces together, and capture the criminal first? Sign up in the media center for Wednesday's Escape Experience!

Juniors: Attention Juniors who were Apollo students last year; if you would like a copy of your AzM2 test scores from last spring, please stop by and see Mrs. Contreras in the counseling area before school, during your lunch period, or after school.

Gamers Club This Monday, the Gamers Club brings you the Ultimate Werewolf Experience. In this social deduction game for up to twenty players, you will take the role of a werewolf trying to eliminate a village or a villager attempting to survive the invasion. Sign up in the library to play this unique game of accusations, bluffing, and survival. Students and Teachers welcome!

Media Center: The media center will be closed after second lunch for the remainder of the day and will reopen as usual Monday morning.

Transportation YOU's mission is to shape the future of the transportation industry by growing the involvement and interest of girls and young women in STEM studies. All are welcome. Thursday's speaker is Elizabeth Fretheim. Learn about her career path, what her job is like, and more about her company.

Gaming Club: The Apollo Gaming Club is looking for 4-6 students to playtest and referee Escape Room games in the media center. If you'd like to help inaugurate Escape Room Experiences at Apollo, come apply at lunch or after school in the media center.

Golf: Attention golfers, there will be an informational meeting in Coach Coburn's room 1103 at 2:40 today. We are still accepting experienced and non-experienced COED golfers for the team. You need to act fast; positions are filling up fast... Look forward to seeing you this afternoon.
