Sophomores signed up to take AP US History next year as a JUNIOR- you have a mandatory meeting Friday after school at 2:45 pm in room 15-213 with Mrs. Grader to go over the summer assignment.  This is Mandatory!  Please do NOT miss this. It will take about 20-30 minutes so plan accordingly.

Attention all Junior, and Seniors who are interested in a career in healthcare.  The Health Careers Education Program will be offering a 4-week class. This course will focus on EKG and Phlebotomy skills. Eligible students will be able to complete an Electrocardiogram and Phlebotomy Technician Certification at the end of the course.  Students have an opportunity to earn ½ high school credit.  See your Counselor for details.

This summer The Glendale Union District will be offering a summer Welding course. Student can earn ½ elective credit, plus eligibility to test for industry certification. See your counselor for details.

NJROTC

The Apollo Hawks NJROTC Athletic Team attended the third annual IRON CADET competition at Maricopa High on 07 APRIL.  With a dominant performance, our hawks once again destroyed the competition with the following results:

 

4 x 400 Meter Relay Race - 3rd Place Trophy

Obstacle Course - 1st Place Trophy

Tug of War - 1st Place Trophy

IRON CADET - 1st Place Trophy

Overall - 1st Place Championship Trophy

 

This is the third time in three years our Apollo NJROTC athletic team has brought home the overall championship trophy.  Way to go Hawks!

Culinary Arts

Congratulations to this year’s culinary arts competition team for an outstanding job at this year’s FCCLA State Leadership Conference held in Tucson. Our team was awarded 1 bronze and 8 silver medals.  A special congrats to Arifa Ali for placing 1st in the Salad Preparation and being awarded a gold medal and scholarship for toward a post CTE program! She competed with over 50 students from the state and scored a fantastic 97%! Well done, Hawks!

Spring Sports

Are you interested in playing a Spring sport? The Spring season includes Boys/Girls Tennis, Track & Field, Baseball and Softball. If you are interested in trying out for one of these sports, please ensure your parents have completed Register My Athlete for the Spring sport you wish to play. Register My Athlete must be completed BEFORE you try out. Spring sports will officially begin on Monday, February 5, 2018. For more information, visit Mrs. Hebert in the Athletics Office.

Those going to Washington DC in March with Mrs. Grader we have 65 more days until we leave. That being said, there is a mandatory meeting after school today at 2:40 in Room 15-213.  We will begin to discuss some current event issues. I will hand out some paperwork that is important. NROTC

  “Apollo NJROTC had a great weekend competing at the Sunnyslope Viking Team Fitness Challenge.  27 Apollo Cadets competed against 11 other Phoenix valley JROTC teams for the glory in 11 different athletic events. 

 

    Apollo took first place in the tug of war, first in Dodgeball, first in the IRON CADET, second in the extreme volley tennis, and third in Flag Football.

 

    Apollo NJROTC scored SECOND PLACE overall out of 12 teams.  Well done APOLLO NJROTC!
